Top 5 Reasons Why Being A Barber Rocks

Updated: Nov 2, 2020

Have you ever wondered what's so great about barbering, why would anyone, much less a WOMAN want to be a barber! Well here are my top 5 reasons why I love being a barber and why I think everyone should consider barbering as a career.

1. Creativity Overload

Barbering is the perfect outlet for the creative type. Of course you are going to have your simple guys that want just a normal, basic haircut, but you will also have the guys that want something different and you will have to channel your creativity to create that one of a kind masterpiece! No two clients are alike, therefore no two haircuts will be alike either. As long as you are a barber that constantly wants to keep up with the trends and wants to keep growing their skill sets you will never get bored! Trust me it's pretty cool being Van Gogh with Clippers! #skills

2. Job Security

Barbering is one of the oldest professions in the book and is one of the fastest growing professions in the US today. According to Forbes Magazine the men's grooming industry is predicted to grow to more than 26 billion dollars by the end of this year!! It doesn't matter if the country is booming or in economic downfall, men still need professional haircuts and beard trims. Men will still need to look good for jobs, job interviews, dates, funerals, etc. As long as a man needs to look good, a barber will have a purpose and an income! #money

3. No Two Days Are The Same

I don't know about you but I get bored doing the same thing day in, day out! When you are a barber no to days are alike. Like I mentioned before, no two clients are alike, therefore no two haircuts will be alike either! This keeps you from getting burned out and keeps your job from getting stale.

4. You Make People Feel Good

If you have extra time sit outside a barbershop and observe the men walking in and out. What you will notice is a whole lot more confidence coming out, than what walked in! When a man gets a fresh haircut and shave he feels good, oozes confidence. He walks taller, with purpose, a man with dignity! I gotta tell ya, it feels damn good knowing your the one that helped with that!

5. The $$$!

It is always fun to do what you love but it is even better when you can make a lot of cheddar doing it! I have had a lot of people mention to me that stylist or cosmetologist make more money than barbers but lets look at the facts: according to Zip Recruiter the national range for a barber's salary is between $17,500 -$78,000. So that's an average of $43,279! Also According to Zip Recruiter the national range for a stylist/cosmetologist's salary is between $13,500 - $46,500, with an average of $28,602! THAT IS A 34% DIFFERENCE!! It does make sense though, as a barber we see our clients more often (some of our clients come every 2-3 weeks) and have less product cost behind the chair.

So if you are looking for a career that will never bore you, make you feel good, and one that you can be a complete and udder success at maybe you should consider barbering! We are a proud tribe that thrives on caffeine and busy days! Once again, thanks for reading.

Talk soon,

Jenn
