A Unique Blog For Men! (and it's about time!)
Do you ever find yourself staring in the mirror and think you need a change? Have you ever had dandruff or hair that started growing in your ears/nose and wondered what the heck should you do? Are you a man that needs a little guidance with his hair/beard style and care? Has the barbershop ever fascinated you? Well stick around because that's what I'm here for! #blogformen
Why would you want to read this blog?
First off, this blog is written by a barber who has been in the industry for over 15 years! I am elbow deep in hair and beards all day, every day and LOVE every minute of it! When I can make a guy feel more confident and stand a little bit taller, that's when I have done my job. And man do I love my job! (Not many folks can say that.) This blog will allow me to reach more guys, to get the knowledge that I have gained behind the chair to you, so you can solve your every day dilemmas.
I will also throw in some day in the life posts because there is never a dull moment in a barber's day! #truth A lot of the times we (me and my coworker) find ourselves laughing at the end of the week in disbelief at the crazy stuff that goes on. We have said several times how we should write a book...... well, a blog will do just fine!
How to read this blog.
Unlike other blogs that I have read, there is no order to this blog and none of them will take over 5 minutes to read. I'll be writing whatever I feel is important at the time. I hate when you have to start at the beginning of a series you find interesting and then get lost if you miss something in the middle because you didn't have time to track down the rest of the series because of life. I get it, I have 3 kids and a barbershop to run. #aintnoonegottimeforthat
What makes me the expert?
I would never claim to be an expert at anything because we are all still learning, and once you decide you are done learning that is when you become truly stupid, but I have a Crossover License in the state of Missouri and have been in the industry for over 15 years. A Crossover License means I am licensed in Barbering, Cosmetology, and Manicuring. I own a very successful Barbershop, Big Fish Haircuts and practice barbering all day, every day. My passion is in the barbering field. I tried doing women's hair for a short period of time and was extremely unhappy with the work. (I hate perms and color, and don't get me started on detangling long hair that has been neglected for far to long.) You can checkout my business' website at www.bigfishhaircuts.com for a bit more info about what I do on a regular basis.
Why as a woman did I want to become a barber?
That one is pretty easy. I love to cut hair and pamper my clients. Barbering is all about excellent service and top notch precision haircuts! As a stylist it's all about the chemicals, while barbering is all about the grooming. When you cut a man's hair, even 1/8 of an inch can change an entire look! You give him a fresh cut and a clean shave, well he looks brand new! He stands taller, he smiles bigger, and walks with purpose! There is a lot of pride in knowing you did that! #barberlife
